Main areas of work

Paul specialises in technology, outsourcing and other types of commercial contracts. His experience encompasses cloud based services and solutions agreements, contracts for the procurement of IT equipment/services, website design, development and hosting agreements, IT and Business Process Outsourcing contracts, managed services contracts, technology/Intellectual Property licences, e-commerce related and data protection issues and regulations governing online trading and marketing as well as a range of other general commercial contract arrangements.

A regular speaker at public and client conferences, for several years Paul presented the Contract Law paper at the Commerce & Industry Group’s Annual Legal Update for 200+ in-house lawyers and has presented on commercial contract law topics at Ask the Expert webinars run by the International Association for Contract & Commercial Management (IACCM).

Career history

Having read law at the University of Birmingham, Paul trained at Turner Kenneth Brown and qualified there as a solicitor in 1987. He worked in the Technology, Media and Telecommunications Group at what is now Nabarro (which merged with TKB) and became a partner in 1998 before founding TRG law in 2004.

Recommended as an expert in the IT section of the 2003 edition of Legal Experts (published by Legal Business) and in the Legal 500, Paul was quoted as ”liked by clients for his commercial style”. He is a member of the Society for Computers and Law and the Licensing Executives Society.

Personal

Paul is married with two children. His principal interests aside from his family include sport (both playing and watching – particularly football, cricket and golf) and photography.
